< Equip Yourself With The Right Skills In Generative AI
Microsoft and LinkedIn are joining forces to push Generative AI to the masses with their launch of the AI Skills Initiative certificate program.
Consisting of five modules, beginners and professionals have access to free coursework on generative AI skills and approaches in applying generative AI
to their work.
The importance of AI skills training is growing. And fast.
More than 75% of companies plan to adopt AI in the next five years, according to the World Economic Forum. And because training employees in AI and big data is among the top three priorities for companies in terms of skills development, The AI Skills Initiative shows promise in accelerating the use of generative AI.
To bring more excitement to the mix, Microsoft is running a grant competition to encourage ideas on training employees of nonprofit organisations, social enterprises, and research or academic institutions to utilise generative AI.
The winners, chosen from different regions, will receive a monetary award of up to $250,000, as well as access to a Microsoft-supported cohort, data training, technical guidance, and Azure cloud computing space.
< An Exciting & New Programming Language: English!
To simplify and enhance the development process, an English SDK as a new programming language for Apache Spark is being introduced to the public.
While AI-assisted code development tools like GitHub Copilot have been powerful, they often require users and reviewers to understand the generated code. Which ends up just limiting broader adoption.
Developers can now interact with Spark using simple instructions in English, reducing the need to comprehend complex generated code. The English SDK aims to make Spark development more accessible, intuitive, and efficient by leveraging the power of language models.

< Is AI Going To Save Us All?
Is AI a threat or rather a tool that can improve various aspects of our lives?
Clarifying what AI is and dispelling some of the common misconceptions, Marc Andreessen positions AI as not a destructive force like the robots portrayed in movies. Instead, AI is a computer program that can generate valuable output across fields such as coding, medicine, law, and the creative arts.
We can all agree that human intelligence has consistently led to incredible outcomes throughout history. But with AI offering the opportunity to augment human intelligence even further, we can expect to see new and boundary-pushing feats. A future where AI tutors and assists children, AI assistants support individuals throughout their lives, and AI collaborates with scientists, artists, engineers, and leaders.
